In this unit, I incorporated technology into the research portion of students’ informational paragraph writing. For research, students used iPads to scan QR codes in order to find out more about a topic. The QR codes augmented the way students were taken to the information rather than having to search for information in a search engine or database. The task was also modified by having students watch a video to gather information about the topic they chose rather than the need to reading through articles and research to find facts and details. To increase the amount of technology in this unit to the level of redefinition, I could have made use of student blogs. Students could have been asked to type up their paragraphs, add pictures and citations, and post to an individual or combined student blog.
